January '25 Patch Notes

Happy January!

The new year always comes with resolutions, goals and plans. Space Base 1 is really coming along nicely, and we're tackling goals and milestones every week. This month we added a new power system, so that it's no longer just assumed to connect. You now have to connect each building to power.  We've also added to our team, and have a new sound engineer. Welcome Mikey!

The power system did take a lot of work to get where it is, so this update is short, but packed with good stuff!

January Changes:

  1. New power system is being added.

  2. The system uses an input/output plug system. Plugs highlight when you hover over them. Click to Start the connection process.

  3. Clicking a hovered plug enters connection state expecting your next click to be on an opposite input/output plug.

  5. Connecting a building will transfer power. Connections have a range limit and buildings have a toggle allowing you to turn them on and off. Producers have send power through 1 output: Wind Turbine, Solar Panels, Reactors etc. Consumers receive power from 1 input: Houses, farms, silos, excavators etc. Batteries send power in and out through several inputs and outputs, prioritizing lower tier buildings, sending to consumers first, then to batteries, then to relays. Batteries also have power storage as power backup for your grids. Relays send and receive power through 1 input and 1 output. A building without power will lose their bonus. Excavs will not extract, houses lose housing slots, and farms lose food production for example, when power is not provided to those buildings. Hovering over a connected plug will highlight red and selected buildings will show their stats in the new Info Panel. Note: Info Panel, cables, and plugs and their positions, and all of this art is temporary. (edited)
